I Dron Race

October 2, 2022

In the 5th century B.C. the Vettones, distinguished by their warrior character, built the impressive walls of the castro of Yecla la Vieja, also known as “El Castillo”.

A few years later, these imposing walls are once again coming to life. But this time it won’t be warriors and horses that will be the protagonists. It will be the DRONES.

These small devices can reach speeds of up to 170 km/h in just 2 seconds and dodge obstacles with impressive fluidity.

On October 2, 2022 from 10.00 to 15.00 the best drone pilots of Spain will face each other in the first drone race on a Vetton castro in Yecla de Yeltes.

But that will not be the only thing happening on October 2. All attendees will be able to enjoy different areas available during the event:

  • Training area: never flown a drone before? Or have you tried flying drones but want to perfect your technique? we will have introductory drone piloting workshops perfect for you. Free and for all ages. Reserve your place now!
  • Free flight area: if you have a drone and want to show us what you can do, bring it and fly it! We will coordinate all takeoffs and landings. In addition, the best aerial photograph will be awarded a prize.

Come to Yecla de Yeltes on October 2 and enjoy a different and fun day.

FPV Drones:

FPV stands for First Person View. This equipment is used to be able to steer the competition multicopter as if we were riding inside.

The FPV equipment is basically composed of:

  • An FPV camera
  • a video transmitter (video Tx) with an antenna
  • a video receiver (video Rx) with an antenna
  • a screen or FPV goggles to display the image

On the Hillfort of Yecla la Vieja:

El Castro de Yecla la Vieja, also known as “El Castillo”, is located a couple of kilometers south of the town of Yecla and is one of the most spectacular pre-Roman fortifications in the Iberian Peninsula.

It is a long-occupied settlement, perhaps originally called Virlanga. It was built around the 5th century BC by the Vetons, and was occupied by them and their Hispano-Roman descendants for almost a thousand years.

It is believed that the conflicts caused during the repopulation of Ledesma in the twelfth century the abandonment of the settlement by the new village of Yecla, although in the time of the Catholic Monarchs a hermitage was erected within the enclosure, that of Nuestra Señora del Castillo. Do you want to know more about its history?
